What does it take to make the Bible come alive to your audience? The word of God is the most important text we can teach, but it may also be one of the most confusing and complex. We need more than mere charisma or knowledge of Greek and Hebrew.
With the Spirit’s help and the wisdom that comes through experience, our skillfully constructed lessons can spur our students on to deeper love of God and others. Let’s transform our teaching from adequate to compelling.
Because God’s Word is uniquely compelling, we can only teach it well if we are listening to God. Our students can tell when we have let Scripture speak to us. Compelling lessons come from diligence, humility, and preparation.
It’s not enough to simply open the Bible and start talking—a compelling message requires research, prayer, and practice. This course offers detailed suggestions on how to research, outline, and write a lesson true to our chosen passage or topic.
Bible teachers can expect feedback, but we need to learn how to determine which is helpful versus merely harsh. Responding to criticism with humility and discernment will make us stronger teachers.

Beth begins in her first session with reflections on the compelling nature of the biblical text itself, the source of our gospel message. What makes it so captivating, and how can we do the text justice as we teach?
To transform the content of Scripture into a compelling lesson, we ourselves must be compelled by God. In this session, Beth examines the necessary qualities of a Bible teacher capable of communicating a compelling message.
In this session, Beth offers a look into the details of her teaching preparation and encourages us to remember that, in the end, we are communicating God’s truth and not our own.
Beth continues helping us know how to reach our audience so that they walk away understanding what we are teaching. When our delivery is compelling, we can be more confident that God’s message is being heard.
Even the most prayed-over and prepared lessons won’t please everyone. In this session, Beth Moore addresses the way criticism can help us mature as teachers who communicate compelling truth.
In the final session, Beth lists a number of practical tips, born of her own experience, to help us become more compelling Bible teachers.
