The work of ministry is never complete. There is always more to do, another sermon to prep, and enough pastoral care cases to fill our schedules for weeks. We are distracted, busy, and rushing from one task to the next. As a result, our churches—the people God has put in our care—end up getting a run-down version of us.
It’s impossible to constantly pour out if we’re not prioritizing being refilled. Despite the busyness of our call, God calls us to daily rhythms that can help us create a sustainable lifestyle and thrive in our relationships with God and others.
God instituted a pattern of rest in creation, but often pastors feel like rest is not an option. While there is a lot on your plate, you can’t pour out from an empty cup. Rich will help you prioritize rest so that you can have a sustainable, fruitful ministry.
Relationships are at the core of pastoral ministry—with God, your congregation, the broader community, and your family. Rich will explain how to maintain those relationships despite the busyness of ministry.
Leadership comes with a lot of responsibility that can take a toll on your physical and mental health. Rich will introduce you to principles that can elevate your unique leadership style while pointing you to a healthier, more sustainable ministry.

Plan for an hour to an hour and a half to go through each session, especially if you’re going through the content in a group. The videos in this course range from 15 to 25 minutes, and the discussion questions and activities will likely take up the remainder of your meeting time.
This course is six sessions long. Feel free to cover the sessions in increments that make the most sense for you and your leadership team. For some, it might work best to go through one session a week; for others, it might be better to cover one session a month. We do not, however, recommend doubling up on sessions in a single meeting. Give yourself space to digest and apply what you will learn.
