Now, more than ever, pastors need to be resilient. But do we even know the true meaning of the word? For church leaders to begin pursuing and practicing resilience, it is crucial that we first determine what resilience is and how it is impacted by six key factors.
In our Western culture, “resilience” is sometimes used synonymously with “grit” even though that isn’t a true definition of the word. Now, more than ever, pastors need to be resilient. But how can you work toward resilience if you don’t know the true definition of the word or what impacts your pursuit of resilience in your day-to-day life?
In this six-session course, Glenn Packiam (lead pastor of Rockharbor Church in Costa Mesa, CA, Barna Group senior fellow, author) invites pastors into a time of reflection, rest, and renewal as he discusses what it takes to be a resilient leader in our present day.

This session explores resilience as a process of recovery rather than mere endurance, focusing on spiritual renewal as the foundation for pastoral health. Participants will identify key areas in life that foster resilience and learn to rest in God's love amid the challenges of ministry.
Emphasizing the necessity of intentional and reciprocal relationships, this session highlights how a strong support network sustains resilience. It challenges the myth of the lone leader and invites pastors to cultivate meaningful connections for their well-being and ministry impact.
This session addresses how credibility is built and eroded, encouraging pastors to steward their power responsibly. By examining pitfalls and redemptive practices, leaders will be inspired to model servant leadership and invite accountability into their lives.
Focusing on the core paradigms of church life, this session examines how churches gather and balance priorities of encounter, formation, and mission. Participants will reflect on the Holy Spirit’s guidance in reshaping their congregation’s approach to gathering.
Collaboration is presented as essential for healthy leadership and effective ministry. This session encourages pastors to embrace their limitations, foster teamwork, and explore partnerships within their community to extend their church's reach.
The final session reframes resilience through the lens of resurrection, emphasizing reliance on God’s power rather than personal effort. Pastors will explore how resurrection transforms ministry timelines, expectations, and the ultimate hope of their work in Christ.
